Excursions to Pantalica

Uncontaminated nature and millenary history: this is the atmosphere that will be the backdrop for the excursion to the Pantalica Oriented Nature Reserve.

It is an incredible place a few kilometers from Syracuse, perfect for those who love walking or cycling. The area is in fact full of pedestrian and cycle paths.

However, this excursion begins in the colorful market of Ortigia around 9:30 am where we meet and buy the necessary for a packed lunch and a snack: sandwiches, arancini, snacks, fruit, you choose!

From here we head towards Pantalica where you can start the activity you prefer.

Enter the Anapo Valley and discover the ancient necropolis of Filiporto.

Stroll along the ancient railway and arrive at Anaktron, the Byzantine palace from which you can enjoy the view of the valley and to which Vittorio Emanuele III, King of Italy, arrived in 1933 on the back of a mule.

Observe the more than two thousand tombs that dot the walls of the Calcinara River canyon and finally take a refreshing dip in its crystal clear waters (even if you’re not on the sea, it’s always a good time to swim).
